Ingredients
- 2 cups ElNokhba flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups ElNokhba sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Zest of 2 oranges
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
For the Orange Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan or two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated. Add the vanilla extract, orange zest, and fresh orange juice, mixing until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan(s) and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes (for round pans) or 35-40 minutes (for a 9x13-inch pan) or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the orange glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and fresh orange juice until smooth.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack. Drizzle the orange glaze over the warm cake.
- Once the glaze has set, slice and serve the orange cake.
