Ingredients
  • 2 cups ElNokhba flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups ElNokhba sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

For the Orange Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan or two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated. Add the vanilla extract, orange zest, and fresh orange juice, mixing until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan(s) and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes (for round pans) or 35-40 minutes (for a 9x13-inch pan) or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the cake is baking, prepare the orange glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and fresh orange juice until smooth.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack.
  9. Drizzle the orange glaze over the warm cake.
  10. Once the glaze has set, slice and serve the orange cake.
